Atkinson to officiate at AZ-Valencia tie

ALKMAAR- Official Martin Atkinson has been appointed to referee Thursday’s Europa League match between AZ and Valencia. The English referee, who celebrates his 41st birthday on Saturday, will be assisted at the AFAS Stadion by compatriots Michael Mullarkey, Peter Kirkup, Michael Jones and Michael Oliver.

Andre Marriner, also from England, will be the fourth official.

Atkinson boasts Champions League and international experience. The English official was appointed to referee the 2011 FA Cup Final.
