Easy win AZ over ADO Den Haag

ALKMAAR- AZ have taken an convincing win over ADO Den Haag: 3-0. In the AFAS Stadium Brett Holman, Adam Maher and Jozy Altidore scored for AZ to confirm their status of leader in the Dutch Eredivisie with six points ahead of followers FC Twente and PSV.

AZ put pressure on ADO Den Haag from the first whistle and did not show a sign of fatigue because of the Europa League match against Austria Wien. Early in the match AZ opened the scoring when Roy Beerens served Brett Holman who beat ADO Den Haag goalkeeper Gino Coutinho with a low shot: 1-0.

AZ did not take back after the opening goal. Jozy Altidore and Holman got opportunities, while Beerens was unequalled against his direct opponent Christian Kum. ADO Den Haag got one solemn chance on the edge of the break when Gábor Horváth headed just over the goal of Esteban.

After the break AZ continued the dominant play driven by the strong midfield with Rasmus Elm, Pontus Wernbloom and Adam Maher. Altidore and Elm hit the post and the bar with their efforts, but later it was Maher who doubled the scoring from a rebound after Coutinho first stopped Beerens’  shot: 2-0.

After Maher hit the post on an assist from Etiënne Reijnen it was Altidore who made the final chord when he scored after a good combination with Maher: 3-0.  In the final minutes of the match Maher failed to send ADO Den Haag home with a fourth goal against.
