Maher handed Netherlands U-21 debut

ALKMAAR - Netherlands U-21 coach Cor Pot has named Adam Maher is his final squad for the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying game at home to Scotland. The 18-year-old AZ midfielder, who looks set to become a first-team regular in Alkmaar this season, has received his first call-up to represent Netherlands Under-21. He captained the Netherlands Under-19 side last season.

Qualification campaign

Netherlands Under-21 have gained maximum points from their three previous qualifying matches. They are on top of Group 10 after recording wins over Bulgaria (0-1), Luxemburg (4-0) and Austria (0-1). Scotland are lying in second place with five points from three matches. Netherlands Under-19 v Scotland is scheduled to take place at the Goffert Stadium in Nijmegen on Monday, November 14, with an 18:30 kick-off.
