Verbeek gets one-match ban

ALKMAAR- Gertjan Verbeek has been handed a one-match ban by the disciplinary committee of the Dutch football association. The AZ coach was originally punished with a three-match suspension for the red card he was shown during AZ´s home game against Heracles Almelo
Verbeek appealed the decision on Tuesday night and showed the disciplinary committee a 3D animated film. It provided evidence that he had not pushed fourth official Jochem Kamphuis during the game with Heracles Almelo, an offence for which the AZ coach was sent to the stands.
The appeals committee decided to reduce the suspension by dropping two matches as they found no evidence that Verbeek should have pushed or barged into Kamphuis. The final punishment was given for repeated protests, both during and after the game. Verbeek will miss the KNVB Beker match at home to Heracles Almelo on Thursday.
