ROTTERDAM- On a misty and cold Sunday afternoon in Rotterdam, AZ faced Feyenoord. In a match with few chances, the Rotterdammers came out on top. Quinten Timber secured the only goal of the game, resulting in a minimal difference.

Pascal Jansen fielded the same eleven players as against Aston Villa.

Ryan provides rescue
In the opening phase, the Rotterdammers immediately had a great chance to take the lead. Quinten Timber could take a shot from the edge of the box in the second minute, but Mathew Ryan made a brilliant save, deflecting his attempt onto the post.

Feyenoord takes the lead
After 24 minutes, it was Timber again, this time successfully. The midfielder beautifully shot from a distance into the top corner. AZ had to play catch-up. In the first half, they didn't create significant chances except for a shot from Vangelis Pavlidis just before the break. The score at halftime was 1-0.

Second half
In the second half, there were still few chances to note. Pavlidis attempted a shot just after the break, but his effort ended up on the roof of the Rotterdam goal. Shortly after, Ryan made another excellent save on a shot from Timber that seemed destined for the near post. The subsequent corner from Feyenoord just went over.

Crossbar
With 75 minutes on the clock, Feyenoord came very close to a second goal. Once again, it was Timber who posed a threat. The midfielder surged forward and took a powerful shot. However, his attempt hit the crossbar. AZ couldn't find the back of the net, and the match ended in a 1-0 defeat.
