ROTTERDAM- On a misty Sunday afternoon, AZ Women suffered a defeat against Feyenoord. Despite playing well, AZ found themselves trailing 2-0. Ten minutes before the end, Veerle van der Most pulled one back, but it wasn't enough for a positive result.

Strong Opening Phase
AZ had a strong start to the match, putting high pressure on the home team. Within five minutes, the Alkmaar side posed a threat through the flank. Camie Mol reached the goal line, but her low cross couldn't be converted by anyone. Shortly afterward, danger came again from the right side. Isa Colin delivered a fantastic pass to Mol, who then took a powerful shot just outside the sixteen-yard box, but the wing-back's effort hit the crossbar.

Unfortunate Conceded Goal
Despite the better gameplay, the visitors fell behind. Goalkeeper Femke Liefting couldn't control a back pass from Karlijn Woons properly, allowing Feyenoord striker Jada Conijnenberg to capitalize and slot the ball into an empty net: 1-0.

Big Chances for AZ
The Alkmaar team didn't let the setback deter them and continued to create opportunities. Shortly after the conceded goal, the Feyenoord goalkeeper also faced problems, in a similar situation, but Desiree van Lunteren couldn't quite reach the ball, and the Rotterdammers narrowly escaped. Before halftime, AZ earned a free-kick in a dangerous position, but Van Lunteren's attempt was saved by goalkeeper Jacintha Weimar, leaving both teams heading into the break with a 1-0 scoreline.

2-0 Shortly After the Break
AZ came close to equalizing immediately after halftime. A corner from Isa Dekker was punched away by Weimar, and Van Lunteren's attempt was also blocked by the Feyenoord goalkeeper. On the other end, the goal did come. A low cross reached the second post via Woons' leg, and there, forward Esmee de Graaf slotted in the second Rotterdam goal.

Crucial Substitutions
Ten minutes before the end of the match, AZ pulled one back. Substitute Veerle van der Most broke through, assisted by another substitute Bo op de Weegh. The Alkmaar forward remained calm and finished smoothly into the near corner: 2-1. However, the visitors couldn't score more goals. In the very last second, AZ came close to the equalizer. Spaan redirected the corner, but Van der Most couldn't tap the ball in at the second post. Thus, the final score remained 2-1.
