ALKMAAR- In the AFAS Stadium on Saturday evening, AZ added their eighth Eredivisie victory of the season. It was the game of Vangelis Pavlidis, who set an Eredivisie record and scored a hat-trick accounting for all the goals.

AZ started the match unchanged compared to their last game against Ajax, where they secured a 1-2 victory on October 8 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Record
The first real chance found the back of the net immediately. After eleven minutes of play, Pavlidis turned away from his marker and, via a deflection off Thom Haye's leg, scored for an early 1-0 lead. This marked a new Eredivisie record for the Greek player. Pavlidis became the first player ever to score in the first nine matches of the Eredivisie season.

Sugawara
After sixteen minutes, Yukinari Sugawara had to intervene on an attempt by Heerenveen. Following a corner kick, Pelle van Amersfoort had a headed chance, but the Japanese player cleared the ball off the goal line. Just before half-time, Mathew Ryan also made a save. The goalkeeper was alert to a free-kick from AZ youth product Haye. With a 1-0 lead for AZ, the teams headed to the dressing rooms.

Attack
In the second half, AZ mainly sought to attack. David Møller Wolfe tried from a distance, but Sven van Beek's leg got in the way. With an hour on the clock, AZ extended their lead to 2-0. Dani de Wit delivered the ball into the box, where Pavlidis controlled it well and fired it hard from close range.

Hat-trick
Pavlidis was eager, and it would get even better for the striker. After a beautiful build-up, Sugawara delivered the ball to Pavlidis, who poked it in from close range to complete his hat-trick! This was Pavlidis's second hat-trick while playing for AZ. While the striker secured the match ball, Sugawara achieved a significant milestone. He is the player with the most assists (10) in the Eredivisie in the calendar year, after Joey Veerman (13).

Undefeated
The final score remained 3-0 at the AFAS Stadium. AZ is still undefeated in the Eredivisie and can now prepare for the clash with Aston Villa, their next opponent.
